The Performance Center coordinates and promotes ODJFS performance management efforts. It provides the research
and analysis that allow the agency's leaders to make informed decisions about the day-to-day operations of ODJFS. It also helps them shape plans for the future and influence state and county priorities.
By maintaining the ODJFS Strategic Plan and hosting frequent, data-driven management and strategy meetings, the Performance Center ensures that all work the agency performs aligns with its core mission, vision, and values, and is aimed at clearly defined performance targets. This has resulted in significant improvements in ODJFS programs, customer service, and operations.

The Performance Center model has been widely praised. Governing magazine rated Ohio highly in its evaluation of all 50 states' performance management efforts and lauded ODJFS, in particular, for developing the Performance Center. Representatives from several other state agencies and at least one city government have observed and adopted components of the Performance Center system.
